Sometimes we are able to find coping skills during difficult times, and sometimes we need to lean on others for support. What does STRESS look like? Is what you're experiencing healthy or unhealthy? The following information about stress is from Mental Health America:
Take a Stress Screener from Mental Health America COPING SKILLS The skills we learn to reduce stress and anxiety are called coping skills. Many of these skills can be use anywhere, anytime! Correcting Thoughts is an effective way to reduce stress and/or anxiety. By developing an awareness the thoughts inside your head you can begin to change the message you say to yourself. Many us do not pay attention to our own thoughts. By writing down our thoughts, we can then "correct" the unhealthy thoughts by reframing our unnecessary negative or distorted thinking. What's in your Control? Realizing what you do and do not have control over can give you perspective and help to reduce unnecessary negative emotions. See the image on the right. Then, complete the activity below. |
